Spiritual Support

We at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center understand the importance of spiritual support and pastoral care in the healing process.

Sister giving support | OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center Times of illness are never easy, and the support of family, friends, faith communities and religious practices become all the more important.

Our clinically-trained Pastoral Care team is available 24 hours a day to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and Mission Partners regardless of their faith tradition or whether they think of themselves as religious.

As a Catholic health care system, we provide for the sacramental needs of our Catholic patients, including Holy Communion, Anointing and Reconciliation.

We offer regularly-scheduled Masses in our chapel, which is always open and available to all who seek a quiet place for prayer and reflection.

  • Contacting your clergy person or faith leader
  • Support in seeking meaning and hope
  • Support in making a difficult decision
  • Assistance with an Advance Directive

  • Support at the end of life

Our Pastoral Care team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and Mission Partners.

Worship Services

Roman Catholic Mass

Mass is offered Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel.  There is an Ecumenical Protestant service on Monday and Friday at 11:30 a.m. as well.

The chapel is located on the first floor of the Medical Center near the elevators.

Patient and Family Communion

Roman Catholic Patient Communion is offered daily.

Protestant Patient Communion is available upon request.

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)

OSF Healthcare offers a CPE program for those interested in training as a hospital chaplain and to serve their congregations.
