Call 911 if you are experiencing a medical emergency or a life-threatening situation that requires immediate medical attention.
OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center is designated a Level I Trauma Center, the highest designation in the state of Illinois.
The OSF Saint Anthony Trauma Center has also been verified by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The ACS verification means that all care associated with our trauma program, virtually every department from Lifeline ambulance to the emergency department and neuro trauma intensive care to infection control, is recognized as one of the best in the nation. In fact, OSF Saint Anthony is now one of only two Illinois hospitals that have achieved ACS trauma center verification.
As a leader in the treatment of traumatic injuries, cardiac and neurological emergencies and other life-threatening conditions, OSF Saint Anthony cares for more than 1,100 trauma patients a year from northern and central Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
We offer a comprehensive list of services to meet your urgent and emergent medical needs:
Wondering whether to use the Emergency Department, an OSF PromptCare clinic or an OSF OnCall Urgent Care in-person clinic or virtual visit?
The Emergency Department is the best place for treating potentially severe and life-threatening conditions such as heart attack or stroke.
OSF PromptCare clinics can be used for urgent conditions that aren't life-threatening but need to be taken care of right away, such as sprains, skin rashes or a severe sore throat.
OSF OnCall Urgent care, with in-person and virtual visits, can also be used for minor illnesses and injuries. Virtual visits have the added convenience of being available 24/7 from wherever you are.
We use a multidisciplinary team approach that provides excellent patient outcomes and allows patients to quickly return to their home communities.
Our board-certified surgeons follow trauma patients throughout their hospitalization up to rehabilitation, and nurses certified in trauma care provide trauma patients with care in the Emergency Department, as well as the Neuro/Trauma Intensive Care Unit.
