OSF St. Mary Medical Center provides service to our communities through education, health screenings, and community outreach.  Service is provided to people of all ages, infant to geriatric.

Dietetic Education

We offer nutritional counseling for most all age groups and include, but not limited to, weight management, diabetes, gestational diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, and general nutritional issues. 

Meal plans and special diets are tailored to each individuals needs.

Physician referral is preferred and appointments can be made through our central scheduling department (309) 344-3161 x5454.

Educational Resources

OSF St. Mary Medical Center offers general orientation to all personnel. 

Hospital-wide educational programs are also offered to the staff and records are maintained for general and department specific educational activities.

Patient Education

A minimum of 16 hours per week are spent on formal patient education which is scheduled based on the needs of the patients. 

The Patient Educator provides patient education to patients of all ages, pediatric to geriatric, on an inpatient and outpatient basis. 

The major focus of education is diabetes education and ostomy care education.
