Disaster Preparedness

Welcome to OSF Disaster Preparedness

The Office of Disaster Preparedness is responsible for disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs during any disaster. We serve on four Illinois Department of Public Health EMS Regions: 1, 2, 4 and 6, and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Region 3.

OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center also serves as the Regional Hospital Coordination Center (RHCC) for the Illinois Department of Public Health EMS Region 2 hospitals, serving 18 counties and 23 hospitals. The RHCC is the primary point of contact for communication and coordination of disaster response activities with its resource, associate and participating hospitals and EMS agencies in Region 2.

OSF Saint Francis houses and coordinates the Region 2 Medical Emergency Response Team (RMERT). RMERT is a multidisciplinary group of medical professionals from each of the 23 hospitals in the region.

We are building a disaster-resilient health care system by providing resiliency through mitigation, preparedness and education.
