History of OSF Saint Anthony's Health Center through the 2000's. OSF Saint Anthony first achieved this honor in 2005, then 2009, 2014 and 2020.
The Magnet Recognition Program is both nationally and internationally accepted as the gold standard of patient care, recognizing excellence and professionalism in nursing. Magnet recognized facilities undergo a rigorous evaluation process, including written documentation, extensive interviews, and an on-site review of nursing services.
Research shows that Magnet recognized hospitals are more effective at attracting and keeping quality nurses. Magnet recognition is renewed every four years, during which time the ANCC monitors each facility closely to ensure it maintains high standards of care and Magnet Recognition Program requirements.
ANCC is the world's largest and most prestigious nurse credentialing organization, and a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association. The ANCC Commission on Magnet recognizes less than five percent of hospitals in the United States for their excellence in nursing.
At OSF Saint Anthony, nurses are vital members of our interprofessional teams of health care professionals – helping to set new standards in patient care through the prevention, early detection and management of complex diseases.
Nurses provide both clinical expertise and emotional support to patients and their families – within our hospital and ambulatory care services.
Our professional nurses’ contributions to OSF Saint Anthony and the broader community are highlighted in our nursing annual reports.
