Other Testing | OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical CenterBone Density

A bone density exam can help to determine whether a patient has osteoporosis, and to what degree.  Our diagnostic department utilizes two different technologies.  The first utilizes x-ray absorption techniques to measure the bone mineral density (BMD) of the spine, hip and forearm.

The second technology uses a bone ultrasounometer to deliver real-time imaging of the heel. This exam is offered as a portable screening and can be found at many local health fairs.

Nuclear Medicine

By providing the precise location of tumors and other pathologies, our nuclear medicine technology has the potential to revolutionize treatment planning for heart disease, cancer and neurological disorders.

We utilize the Symbia's True Point SPECT/CT (single photo emission computer tomography/CT) which uses molecular imaging integrated with CT imaging, making it possible to pinpoint exact location, size, nature and extent of disease anywhere in the body.

Radiology

Our fully digital imaging services include:

  • Routine x-ray procedures
  • Fluoroscopic procedures (GI studies, guidance for pain management and surgical procedures)
  • Endovascular procedures

Testing may be performed on an inpatient or outpatient basis to help support patient diagnosis and treatment. A radiologist is available for consultation 24 hours a day.
