Alton is the perfect place for a new, comprehensive cancer center all in one building. A long history of excellence in cancer care already lives here at OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony’s Health Center. The depth of experience of our clinical care team is why patients initially put themselves into our care. But during that trying time in a patient’s life, when the full gamut of physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges weighs down on their shoulders, our mission to serve them with the greatest care and love helps lift and lighten that burden. We are poised to take cancer care to the next level with this new center.
The Perfect Time: And now is the perfect time to undertake this campaign. Updating our equipment is necessary, and it makes little sense to house new, state-of-the-art technology in an outmoded facility where different services are located in different buildings. Ongoing investment in cancer care technology means patients will have access to the latest diagnostic tools and treatments in the region. A comprehensive center under one roof will make that care seamless, integrated, and comfortable. This new center is one facet of our “transformation of health care” in the Riverbend area, one that will help us deliver the highest standard of care for the families of our community, close to home.
Ultimately this campaign is about more than investing in either equipment or a building – we are investing in the patients and families of the Riverbend, who deserve the best treatment when they are faced with a cancer diagnosis.
With your help, we can:
Provide better access to new therapies and equipment. New therapies will include Immunotherapy, Image-Guided Radiation Therapy, and Stereotactic Radiosurgery. The center will have a new CT scanner, Linear Accelerator, 14 state-of-the-art infusion chairs, and 2 treatment bedrooms.
Enhance patient experience by creating an environment designed to deliver cutting-edge care in an uplifting, supportive, patient-centric setting. Locating all of the cancer treatment services under one roof will facilitate coordination of care which should improve outcomes and lower health care costs for our patients.
Allow for greater collaboration and centralized services. New office spaces, exam rooms, lab and pharmacy, and educational and classroom spaces are incorporated into the new layout to encourage collaboration. And throughout the process, the team will meet with patients and their families to listen and understand all of their concerns and to answer their questions.
Support patient-centered care which creates a dramatic shift in focus: not on the cancer, but on the person who comes to us for care. It means that cancer services and treatments, specialists and support, are coordinated seamlessly around the patient in one convenient, comforting space. A center like this provides more than just efficiency – it frees patients and their families to focus their energies on getting well.
