At OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, we understand how joint pain can deprive you of your most treasured activities. When diet, exercise and medication no longer alleviate the pain and discomfort, it may be time to consider joint replacement.
That’s why you can count on the OrthoIllinois surgeons at OSF HealthCare. We provide comprehensive orthopedic care that can get you back to doing the things you love.
Our Services
Whatever your needs are, we can provide the care you need – from joint replacement to fracture care and sports medicine.
- Total hip replacements are intended for patients who suffer from degenerative hip joint disease, which may include osteoarthritis, post-traumatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis and hip dysplasia.
- Total knee replacement is intended for treating adults living with mid- to late-stage degenerative joint disease of the knee.
- Total shoulder replacements are intended to alleviate the symptoms of those suffering from shoulder pain, arthritis, stiffness and limited movement. We treat conservatively, and surgery is a last resort or used only when necessary. We want you to enjoy a life that keeps you as active as possible, so we often try physical therapy and non-narcotic medications first.
- Fracture care: A fracture is a partial or complete break in the bone. The goal of treatment is to put the pieces of bone back in place, control the pain, give the bone time to heal, prevent complications and restore normal use of the fractured area.
- Hand and wrist surgery: The hand and wrist have many parts and are susceptible to many types of injuries. They’re composed of 27 bones connected by numerous joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. While surgery is a last resort, we can help with a variety of conditions from arthritis, broken bones and carpal tunnel syndrome to nerve and tendon injuries.
- Elbow surgery: The elbow gets its stability from more than 20 muscles and numerous tendons and ligaments that work to connect and hold the bones of the joint together. If anything happens to any of these parts or the nerves and blood vessels around them, it can cause pain and irritation. Surgery is a last resort or used only when necessary. We often try physical or occupational therapy and non-narcotic medications first.
- Mako Robotic-Arm assisted surgery: Made possible by Mako SmartRobotics™ technology, this procedure uses a CT scan of the diseased hip or knee joint to create a 3D model of the joint. This model is used to pre-plan the surgery and is adjusted by the surgeon during the operation to ensure the joint is precisely placed and balanced for the best patient outcome.
- Sports medicine: Our team works with athletes of all ages and abilities to help them heal and recover as quickly as possible. We specialize in repairing injuries of the knee (ACL, meniscus, etc.) and shoulder (labrum, rotator cuff, etc.).
